Analyst Predicts End of Traditional Consoles: Few Will Pay $1000 for PlayStation 6

Renowned analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities has long been known for his predictions regarding the eventual demise of dedicated gaming consoles.

A significant escalation in gaming console prices threatens to reshape the gaming industry landscape in the near future. The base model PlayStation 5, initially priced at $399.99, has already seen its cost climb to $599.99 five years post-launch, and experts believe this is merely the beginning of the trend.

Specialists fear that the next generation of consoles will become even less accessible. Michael Pachter asserts that the forthcoming PlayStation 6 could launch with a price tag around $1,000. This, he forecasts, would render it unaffordable for a substantial portion of gamers.

Pachter proposes a radical solution: a complete pivot away from physical consoles towards cloud gaming platforms. He envisions the industry evolving into a model where games are streamed directly to smart TVs, eliminating the need to purchase expensive hardware.
