It seems the dream of NieR series fans is coming true, as a new installment might be in development.
Nine years have passed since the release of NieR: Automata, the second game in the cycle, which is a spin-off of the Drakengard franchise. Until recently, there were no indications that Yoko Taro was preparing a new chapter, especially given his involvement with the new ‘Evangelion.’ However, a ray of hope has now appeared.
The official brand account posted a short but intriguing video. It revealed that Yoko Taro, in addition to writing the script for the new version of the cult anime, is preparing a project called NieR: Cosmic Horror.
Currently, it’s unclear whether this will be a full-fledged game or another project expanding the franchise, but the announcement has certainly made fans’ hearts beat faster. While some are celebrating the potential return of the series, others remain skeptical, as April 1st has already arrived in Japan, and the announcement could be an April Fool’s prank. Nevertheless, the excitement level within the community is exceptionally high.
