Avalanche Studios’ Strategic Restructuring: A “Survival of the Fittest” Approach

Avalanche Studios Group has recently undergone significant restructuring, marked by a series of studio closures and workforce reductions. This strategic shift has seen the shuttering of its Montreal and New York offices in 2024, following the closure of its Liverpool studio last year, which had only been established in 2020. These moves have consolidated the group’s operations, reducing its global footprint to approximately 400 employees primarily based across its Stockholm and Malmö offices. This period of intense consolidation appears to align with a “survival of the fittest” R&D strategy, focusing resources and talent on core strengths as the studio navigates a competitive industry landscape.
