Blades of Fire 2.0 Update Aims to Deliver on God of War-Level Expectations After Initial Shortcomings

Blades of Fire initially sparked high expectations, often drawing comparisons to the critically acclaimed God of War series. However, upon its release, the game struggled to fully meet these ambitious benchmarks. Now, developer MercurySteam is making a renewed effort to captivate players with a substantial new update.

On May 14, 2026, coinciding with the game’s official release on Steam, a significant free 2.0 update will become available. This major patch is designed to introduce substantial enhancements and fresh content, aiming to redefine the player experience.

Key Additions in the 2.0 Update:

  • New Game+ mode for replayability
  • A challenging new difficulty level: Titanium
  • Expanded customization with new weapon parts and cosmetic appearances
  • Elemental Transmutations and a dedicated Photo Mode
  • Boss Revival mode, allowing players to re-engage with previously defeated bosses
  • New Adso’s spells for enhanced weapon abilities
  • Improved death animations, execution sequences, and transitions for a more fluid experience
  • Integration of DLSS 4 for superior performance and visual fidelity
  • A collection of new achievements
  • Full Steam Deck support and remappable keybinds for mouse and keyboard users

The comprehensive 2.0 update will also be made available for console versions of Blades of Fire.
