Players have voiced significant complaints regarding microtransactions in Marathon, prompting a swift response and official statement from Bungie.
Specifically, a $10 bundle previously offered 1100 LUX, while most cosmetic items cost 1120 LUX. Bungie will rectify this by adjusting the bundle to provide exactly 1120 LUX, and players who previously purchased it will receive in-game compensation.
The studio also plans to enhance the quality of cosmetic items, aiming for players to perceive greater value for their purchases.
Furthermore, addressing concerns about the game’s high difficulty, the upcoming update will introduce several adjustments:
- Marker display distance will be increased from 10 to 20 meters.
- More medkits and ammo crates will be added to the Perimeter map.
- Starting ammunition will be increased for the free MIDA, CyberAcme, and Arachne loadouts.
The question remains whether these changes will fully satisfy the player base. While some believe Bungie is making the right moves by smoothing out frustrating gameplay elements, others argue that the studio risks diluting Marathon’s defining characteristic: its unforgiving, hardcore nature.
