Capcom’s New Hit: Monster Hunter Stories 3 is the Highest-Rated Game in the Series

Capcom celebrates another triumph with Monster Hunter Stories 3, which has been hailed as the highest-rated title in its series.

Following the success of Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom continues its winning streak with the launch of a new Monster Hunter installment that has garnered enthusiastic reviews.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection has soared to the top of the spin-off Stories series ratings on OpenCritic with an impressive 85%. This significantly surpasses its predecessors, Monster Hunter Stories 2 (81%) and the original Monster Hunter Stories (79%), signaling that Capcom is steering the franchise in the right direction.

Reviewers particularly praise the expanded RPG system and the unique concept of Riders, heroes who forge deep bonds with monsters to battle alongside them. A more mature narrative focusing on a conflict between two kingdoms and the mystery of the Rathalos twins has also been highlighted. Further strengths include engaging world exploration, the ability to tame various monsters, and an improved turn-based combat system that emphasizes tactical depth and strategic team building.

However, the game is not without its minor imperfections. Among the criticisms noted by reviewers are an inconsistent campaign pace and repetitive side quests. While the visual style is described as vibrant, some critics feel it doesn’t always meet the standards of major AAA productions. Additionally, some journalists found the initial RPG mechanics to be overly complex.
