Coffee Stain Closes Mobile Studio Behind Songs of Conquest and Goat Simulator Mobile Ports

Coffee Stain, the publisher known for titles like Goat Simulator and the upcoming strategy game Songs of Conquest (often described as a spiritual successor to Heroes of Might and Magic), has announced the closure of its mobile division, Coffee Stain Malmö, located in Sweden. The news was shared by Daniel Persson, the company’s VP of Mobile, via LinkedIn.

Established in 2021, Coffee Stain Malmö was responsible for both mobile game development and publishing activities. According to information on their official website, the studio employed approximately 17 people.

Among their key projects, the team at Coffee Stain Malmö successfully ported Goat Simulator to smartphones in 2023. They were also actively working on the mobile version of Songs of Conquest, which is currently slated for release on iOS and Android in March 2025.

Persson reflected on the studio’s creation from scratch as one of the most significant stages of his professional career. He extended his gratitude to the entire team, emphasizing their high level of expertise and encouraging other companies to consider hiring these talented professionals.

The specific reasons behind the closure of the division have not been publicly disclosed. Furthermore, it remains unclear whether Coffee Stain Publishing will continue its efforts in releasing mobile versions of its projects in the future following this shutdown.
