Crimson Desert Modder Restores Cut Food Mechanics, Activates 50 Hidden Skills

Not all initial ideas from game developers make it into the final release. Crimson Desert, while featuring a wide array of mechanics, also had several elements that were ultimately cut during its development.

Thanks to the efforts of modder claramercury, players can now experience an expanded and more intricate food consumption system.

According to claramercury, Crimson Desert originally contained a fully developed food consequence system. This system was created by Pearl Abyss but was never activated in the game. The modder discovered 50 food-related skills across 15 categories. These include effects influencing temperature, elemental resistances, combat buffs, and even immunity to endgame mechanics.

With this modification, Crimson Desert gains a gameplay depth reminiscent of survival games. Potent food items can now trigger various adverse effects, such as sickness or poisoning, making only “weak” food entirely safe to consume without risk.

Claramercury has implemented several preset configurations for this mechanic. The most challenging setting, “Iron Stomach,” introduces numerous debuffs, transforming every meal into a critical decision with significant consequences. Conversely, the “Adventure” level ensures that only food with maximum effects carries a “moderate” risk.

The mod, titled “Cut Content Restored Food Risk System,” is now available for download on Nexus Mods.
