Pocketpair has officially confirmed that a dating simulator set in the popular Palworld universe, titled Palworld: More Than Just Pals, is in active development. What began years ago as an April Fool’s joke has now evolved into a fully official game.

The announcement was made on March 31, 2026, through a humorous video where Communications Director Bucky discusses the concept’s viability with company founder Takuro Mizobe. To preempt any April Fool’s Day skepticism, the trailer concludes with Bucky’s direct declaration: “The game is real.” The developers further reiterated on their official social media, “This is NOT an #AprilFoolsDay.”

Gameplay snippets showcased in the video highlight a strong emphasis on interaction and dialogue with various Pals, as well as the character Zoe Rayne. However, the game is set to maintain Palworld’s distinctive subversive and occasionally dark tone, drawing comparisons to titles like Doki Doki Literature Club. The footage revealed mechanics such as time loops and even a shocking scene where the protagonist is shot by a Black Market Merchant.

The confirmation of Palworld: More Than Just Pals’ development coincides with a significant expansion of the franchise. Palworld recently celebrated its second anniversary, and a physical card game is slated for release next summer. Clearly, Pocketpair is committed to evolving its brand in ambitious and unexpected directions. The dating sim is expected to launch on Steam and consoles.
