Games Workshop has revealed the intricate details of the new Chaos Defiler miniature kit for Warhammer 40,000, set to be released in April.

With the new Defiler kit already available for pre-order, Games Workshop decided to offer a closer look at what hobbyists can expect to find inside the box.

Chaos Defiler head options

The kit features ten head options, including a horned variant, a skull-like mask reminiscent of the Iron Warriors, and specific designs for the Thousand Sons, World Eaters, Death Guard, and Emperor’s Children. A demonic head is provided for the Word Bearers, alongside three versatile options suitable for any Chaos devotee.

Chaos Defiler carapace options

The large, curved carapace above the head slot comes in three distinct versions: one adorned with an eight-pointed Chaos Star, a second depicting a mutation with teeth and claws emerging from its rim, and a third smooth option, perfect for custom decoration. The mutated carapace can be further enhanced with a sinister trophy rack, while the smooth one can accommodate a decorative Thousand Sons-style cowl.

Even the armored mask surrounding the central weapon (which can be either an ectoplasma cannon or a Hades autocannon) is offered in two styles, with optional chain adornments. Furthermore, six exhaust pipes can be positioned atop the carapace in any desired combination.

Weapon options include an autocannon, lascannon, heavy flamer, magma cutters, and an electro-whip. All ranged weapons can be assembled with or without connecting cables. Optional armored panels for the waist are also included.

The Defiler’s most iconic feature, its six limbs, can be assembled in dynamic poses using guide pins and additional base detailing parts. Each leg and claw incorporates a pivot joint in the middle and a ball joint at the top.

The lower pincers of the claws are also articulated, allowing them to be posed open or closed. Even the pipes on the underside of the hull adapt to various poses; they slot into openings in the hollow body and can be trimmed to the desired angle.
