PEGI Mandates PEGI 16 Rating for Games Featuring Loot Boxes and Paid Random Items from June

July 11, 2026Pablo Navarro1 мин

Effective from the beginning of June, the Pan-European Games Information (PEGI) age-rating system will assign a minimum rating of PEGI 16 to all submitted video games that incorporate paid random items, such as loot boxes. These comprehensive revisions to the rating guidelines also extend to other aspects of game design, including the presence of in-game purchases, capabilities for online communication between players, and mechanisms that create 'pressure to play' through incentives like daily quests, encouraging users to frequently revisit the game.
