The developers of Gray Zone Warfare promised in February that a massive upcoming update would completely transform their game, and they’ve delivered. The 0.4 Spearhead update has been available to players since March 31st.
Essentially, this update marks a soft reboot for the PvE shooter, which has literally risen from the ashes in recent days. Not only have most core gameplay systems been overhauled, but the graphics have also seen significant improvements.
For months, Gray Zone Warfare was struggling, peaking at around 2,000 concurrent players daily on Steam. Now, the game boasts over 30,000 daily concurrent players. The project has also re-entered the ranks of PC bestsellers. Since March 31st, it has consistently remained in Steam’s top 10 best-selling titles, and its average rating is climbing, with recent reviews being ‘very positive’.
Key Features of the Spearhead Update:
- Over 100 new contracts and more than 25 new locations;
- 8 new weapon types and 380 related parts;
- Significant AI improvements and an overhauled loot system;
- A complete rework of the in-game economy and vendor inventories;
- New movement animations and enhanced lighting.
The developers proudly announced that over 160,000 players have purchased the project on Steam, and since the patch’s release, more than 126,000 unique users log into the game daily.
