A new HBO special episode will offer an exclusive look behind the scenes of the highly anticipated ‘Harry Potter’ series, delving into the creation of this fresh adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved wizarding world.

HBO has released a trailer for its upcoming documentary special, ‘Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic,’ which will explore the making of the new ‘Harry Potter’ series. Fans can tune in for the premiere on April 5th, available both on HBO streaming platforms and via its broadcast channel.

This special will provide an in-depth look at the project’s development, showcasing everything from the intricate set construction and the detailed work of the art department and costume designers, to exclusive early glimpses from the filming process. A significant focus will be placed on the meticulous casting process to find the new actors who will embody the iconic roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Viewers will hear directly from the cast and crew through exclusive interviews, featuring talents such as John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, and Paapa Essiedu. The special is narrated by Nick Frost, who is also cast in the role of Hagrid for the upcoming series.

The ‘Harry Potter’ series is currently in development for HBO, directly adapting J.K. Rowling’s original books. The first season, which will be based on ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ (or ‘Sorcerer’s Stone’ in the US), is slated for release in late 2026. This marks the beginning of a comprehensive, long-term screen adaptation aiming to cover the entire book series.
