While much attention is traditionally given to the meticulous detailing of aircraft, the developers of the upcoming flight simulator “Korea. Il-2 Game Series” are ensuring that the ground environment receives an equally significant focus.
1C Game Studios continues to share insights into “Korea. Il-2 Game Series.” As a flight simulator, the aerial experience is paramount, but the visual fidelity of the world below plays a crucial role in player immersion.
The latest update highlights the game’s natural environment. Developers have substantially refined various aspects of their graphics engine and re-evaluated prior approaches to present a world that is as authentic, high-quality, and natural-looking as possible:
Our artists completely deconstructed the methods and approaches used in the ‘Great Battles’ series and developed entirely new ones for ‘Korea.’ This allowed us to achieve a more detailed, diverse, and realistic appearance for the natural environment. Extensive work was done to find optimal color solutions, ratios, textures, and natural patterns. This required starting from scratch due to new technologies and lighting systems. In earlier development diaries and glimpses, the ground often appeared dark and uniform, making objects seem unnatural against it. This was due to the use of temporary textures and their color relationships, but new technologies demand new parameters. Now, the environment boasts greater detail and diversity, and nature is perceived and lit much more naturally.

The developers clarified that while grass and trees might have been visible in previous video materials and screenshots, these were technological prototypes and temporary solutions. They are now finalizing the appearance of the flora in the new simulator, promising a more refined and realistic landscape for players to experience.
