Insider Claims Sony Won’t Keep PS6 Price Reasonable, Citing Xbox No Longer a Direct Competitor

Sony reportedly has no intention of subsidizing the manufacturing cost of its upcoming PlayStation 6 console. This approach implies that the device could launch at a price exceeding its production expenses.

According to KeplerL2, a well-known insider specializing in AMD-related leaks, a $699 price for the PlayStation 6 remains a possibility. However, this is contingent on Sony’s willingness to implement a ‘reasonable subsidy.’ KeplerL2 estimates that the total component cost for the PS6 stands at approximately $760.

“My current estimate for the component cost of the PS6 is about $760, so I would say $699 is still possible with a reasonable subsidy. The problem is whether Sony will even bother, now that Xbox is no longer a direct competitor.”
