British actress Jennifer English, known for her role as Maël in Sandfall Interactive’s debut game, revealed that she nearly forgot to audition for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
As the role was exclusively voice-based, English recorded her audio audition at 2 AM while in bed.
“I was just recording it in bed at two in the morning, that’s exactly how it happened with Expedition 33 because I forgot to do it. Don’t make my mistake. Usually, everything is at the last minute and late,” English shared.
English also noted that casting processes for other projects are often much more intricate. These can demand not only voice recordings but also motion capture, and specific full-body shots (from knees to head) to help portray the character. Actors may also be provided with scenes or lines in advance to demonstrate their skills.
