Rumors surrounding the highly anticipated Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake, initially announced five years ago, are once again gaining significant traction. An insider operating under the pseudonym “100% Star Wars” has recently shared fresh insights into the project, claiming to have viewed materials from the ongoing development by Saber Interactive and expressing that they were “extremely impressed” with what they saw.
The insider revealed that they had the opportunity to examine both the canceled version developed by Aspyr and the current iteration by Saber, which was reportedly built from the ground up. They firmly believe that the decision to restart development with Saber Interactive was the correct one. According to the insider, Aspyr’s approach leaned heavily towards an action-oriented gameplay style, which they controversially described as resembling “Fallen Order for the poor” and incorporating a pause mechanic similar to that found in the Final Fantasy VII Remake. Details regarding the combat system utilized in Saber’s version, however, remain undisclosed.
As per the insider’s expectations, a potential re-announcement for the KOTOR remake could take place as early as 2026. This timeline aligns with previous statements from Saber Interactive’s Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, who confirmed to IGN that the remake is “still in development,” urging fans to await an official demonstration.
