Models Margarita “Carroty” Zhila and Anna “Nova” Weber have unveiled a striking new take on Mintara and Karlach from Baldur’s Gate 3, portraying them as “gopnitsas”—a subculture often associated with squatting poses, Adidas sportswear, and a particular musical style.
This innovative project is not the first to offer a modern interpretation of Baldur’s Gate 3 characters, but it certainly stands out.

During a photoshoot led by photographer Yulia “B. Y. Photo+” Belyaeva, models Margarita “Carroty” Zhila and Anna “Nova” Weber transformed into the iconic heroines Mintara Baenre and Karlach.

Instead of their traditional in-game appearances, these companions from BG3 were reimagined as street-savvy “gopnitsas” hailing from the “Forgotten Realms” apartment blocks. In this humorous interpretation, they might be found “confiscating” gold from paladins and mages in dimly lit alleyways, loitering in signature squatting poses near taverns, and indulging in questionable beverages.

Mintara, a drow, is known for her pragmatic and often ruthless approach to evil, which surprisingly coexists with a subtle softer side. She is a dominant character who prefers to achieve her objectives by manipulating others, thereby minimizing her own risks.

Karlach, a tiefling barbarian, is a former thrall and champion of Zariel. Above all, she values freedom and independence. Despite her formidable appearance and fierce warrior nature, Karlach possesses a genuinely kind and loving heart.
