According to Ampere Analysis, third-party games on the Nintendo Switch 2 have generated a substantial $1 billion in revenue over the past nine months.

This impressive growth is attributed not only to an expanding user base but also to the implementation of a new, more favorable commercial strategy for third-party publishers. Notably, despite a modest 2.5% decrease in overall sales volume, the average price of purchased games has risen, indicating increased spending per user.

Warner Bros. emerged as a major beneficiary, with its global hit Hogwarts Legacy significantly bolstering the Switch 2’s appeal as a platform for third-party titles, thanks to the console’s versatility and accessibility.

Ampere notes: “The Nintendo Switch 2 has proven to be a highly desirable commercial target for publishers looking to reach a broad and diverse gaming audience.”

The phenomenal success of the original Switch, projected to reach 154 million units sold by the end of 2025, only heightens expectations for the upcoming new version.

Amid declining sales for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the remarkable growth of the Switch 2 has provided a much-needed boost for the entire gaming industry, reaffirming its critical role for independent developers and the global market.
