Copyright enforcement continues to present unexpected challenges. Recently, the NVIDIA DLSS 5 presentation gained renewed attention due to a wave of DMCA complaints alleging copyright infringement.
Even NVIDIA itself faced restrictions on its original video. Reports indicate that the Italian private TV channel La7, which had allegedly used segments of the DLSS 5 presentation in its own content, initiated the DMCA complaints.
Consequently, NVIDIA’s original video was blocked in certain regions, displaying a message that read:
Video unavailable. This video contains content from La7, who blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.
Similar issues also affected several bloggers who had incorporated excerpts from the NVIDIA DLSS 5 presentation into their videos.
It is hypothesized that a novice employee at La7, responsible for copyright compliance, might have inadvertently sent mass complaints. This action is believed to have triggered YouTube’s AI moderation, leading to the blocking of even the original NVIDIA presentation.
