Five years after his departure from Blizzard, the renowned creator Jeff Kaplan is making a comeback to the gaming industry with an exciting new project.
Recently, Jeff Kaplan, widely known as the creative mind behind the original Overwatch, re-emerged into the spotlight. During a conversation with Lex Fridman, he officially announced his latest venture.
Kaplan’s new game is titled “The Legend of California,” a multiplayer first-person survival shooter. The game’s setting is a captivating fictional California island during the iconic Gold Rush era, promising a unique blend of historical atmosphere and challenging gameplay.
Players will immerse themselves in the genre’s familiar mechanics, including exploring a vast open world, diligently gathering resources, crafting essential tools and items, and constructing their own homesteads, mines, and horse stables.
The game will feature varying difficulty levels across its different locations. Kaplan offered “the Mojave Desert” as an example, explaining that on one server, it might serve as an introductory area, while on another, it could present one of the game’s most formidable challenges.
