Paul Bettany Denies Voldemort Role in HBO’s Harry Potter Series

Actor Paul Bettany has officially dispelled rumors concerning his potential involvement as Lord Voldemort in the highly anticipated HBO Harry Potter television series.

Speculation among fans of the Wizarding World continues to grow intensely as they ponder who will ultimately embody the iconic Dark Lord in this new adaptation.

During a recent appearance at the Saturn Awards, Bettany unequivocally stated that he has not engaged in any discussions nor received any offers from HBO regarding the role of Voldemort. This clear denial comes after Cillian Murphy also distanced himself from similar casting speculation, adding to the mystery surrounding the pivotal character’s portrayal.

HBO has maintained a discreet silence regarding the actor selected for Voldemort. However, insider reports suggest that the studio may have already secured a voice actor for the character’s initial appearances in earlier seasons, with a full physical depiction of the Dark Lord slated for later. This strategy reflects the approach taken by the original film franchise, where Voldemort made his first complete on-screen appearance in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”

The debut of the first season of the new Harry Potter series is currently projected for the first half of 2027, although an exact release date has yet to be officially disclosed.
