A new game titled “Pickmon,” drawing clear inspiration from both the beloved Pokémon series and the recent hit Palworld, is poised to enter the market soon.
Despite Nintendo’s ongoing accusations of plagiarism and patent infringement against the creators of Palworld, these legal challenges haven’t deterred other studios from attempting to capture a share of this highly profitable game segment. Pickmon represents the latest endeavor, directly combining conceptual elements from both Pokémon and Palworld.
In Pickmon, players are invited to explore an expansive open world and collect various creatures. Differentiating itself from Pokémon’s iconic Poké Balls, Pickmon employs a unique card-based system for creature capture. The developers are also emphasizing robust crafting mechanics and base development as core gameplay features. The game will support comprehensive multiplayer options, including cooperative play and competitive PvP battles. Initial plans target a PC release, with subsequent versions slated for the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

However, the project is already encountering significant hurdles. The design of some creatures within Pickmon bears such a striking resemblance to existing Pokémon that its publisher, Networkgo, is at considerable risk of facing immediate legal action from Nintendo. Even players have vocally expressed their discontent and outrage over the monster designs, publicly accusing the developers of blatant plagiarism.
