Sony’s PlayStation Portal, the popular handheld device, is set to receive a significant software update on March 18. This announcement comes as Sony highlights the continuous growth in popularity of cloud streaming.
The core enhancement of the upcoming update is the introduction of a “1080p High Quality Mode.” This new setting is designed to noticeably improve the visual fidelity of games played via remote play and cloud streaming on the device.
Upon installing the update, users will gain the option to select this “1080p High Quality Mode.” While it promises a superior picture, offering an alternative to the standard 1080p mode, it’s important to note that this enhanced quality setting will require and consume more internet data.
According to recent insights from the official PlayStation blog, the cloud streaming feature continues to gain traction, with active users showing a substantial increase in engagement over the past year. Furthermore, data indicates that more than half of all PlayStation Portal owners are subscribers to PlayStation Plus Premium, underscoring the device’s strong connection with Sony’s premium services.
