Developers currently have no plans to alter the release schedule for the highly anticipated Gothic 1 Remake.

Recently, Polish journalists celebrated April Fools’ Day with a rather elaborate prank. They spread a rumor that the release date for the “Gothic” remake had been postponed, citing GTA VI and a long-rumored expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as the reasons.

It quickly became apparent that many fans genuinely believed the news of the Gothic 1 Remake’s delay. The community erupted in fervent discussions surrounding the supposed “new release date” for the game.

The Gothic community manager responded to the widespread online discussions and numerous fan inquiries:

“[…] many people wrote throughout the day in DMs, social media comments, and elsewhere asking, ‘Is it true that the game’s release is being postponed until August?’ – NO, IT IS NOT TRUE. This was an April Fools’ joke from the Polish news website Gry-online, which many journalists and gaming portals mistakenly took for truth.”

Gothic 1 Remake is officially scheduled for release on June 5, 2026.
