Rockfish Games Secures €8M Grant Amidst Germany’s Enhanced Game Industry Support

Rockfish Games, the acclaimed studio renowned for its Everspace franchise, has been awarded a substantial €8 million grant by the German government. This significant funding originates from the nation’s recently expanded €125 million games fund and is specifically allocated to support the development of the next installment in their popular Everspace shooter series.

The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) has overseen this vital funding program since its launch in 2020. The initiative plays a crucial role in bolstering Germany’s domestic game development industry by offering grants designed to cover up to 50% of a game’s production and prototype development costs. These grants are structured to be flexible, with individual project allocations ranging from €300,000 up to the maximum of €8 million, depending on the scope and scale of each unique game initiative.
