Russian Orthodox Church Suggests Playing Genshin Impact During Lent

A representative of the Russian Orthodox Church has recently offered guidance on how adherents might utilize their leisure time during the solemn period of Great Lent, notably including the popular video game Genshin Impact among recommended activities.

Father Vladislav Beregovoy of the Pesochensk Diocese elaborated on the Lenten observance, emphasizing that it traditionally involves a simpler diet. He suggested that the financial savings from preparing less elaborate meals should be reallocated to charitable causes, such as assisting the homeless and those perpetually in need of food.

Beyond dietary considerations, Father Beregovoy highlighted that the reduced time spent on gourmet cooking and extensive shopping during Lent frees up valuable hours. He encouraged individuals to dedicate this newfound time to more enriching pursuits. His suggestions included spending quality time with family, perhaps by going for walks or playing board games. Interestingly, he also explicitly mentioned playing Genshin Impact as a potential pastime.

Crucially, Father Beregovoy underscored the spiritual dimension of Lent, reminding parishioners of the importance of reading the Gospel. He specifically recommended aiming to read through the entire New Testament during this holy period.
