Russians Reportedly Blocked from Launching Sanctioned 2K Games on PlayStation

Players on Russian PlayStation Network accounts are encountering problems accessing games published by 2K that were previously acquired but are now subject to sanctions. Users report that titles like Sid Meier’s Civilization VII fail to load beyond the initial screen, and the basketball simulator NBA 2K25 displays a “connection error.”

However, access to these same games remains possible when using accounts registered in other regions, such as Turkey. According to available information, 2K has confirmed that its games are no longer available to users from Russia.

2K is the publisher of numerous popular franchises, including Mafia, WWE, and Borderlands, in addition to the mentioned sports simulators and the Civilization strategy series.
