Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Head Responds to Jack Black’s Interest in Yakuza Adaptation

Masayoshi Yokoyama, head of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, known for the acclaimed Yakuza and Like a Dragon series, has responded to recent remarks by actor Jack Black regarding his desire to appear in a live-action Yakuza adaptation. Yokoyama posted on social media, indicating that while he currently can’t envision a suitable role for Black and doesn’t know how to contact him, he’s open to the idea of initiating contact.

Previously, in an interview, Black humorously described himself as an “overweight American” and expressed his readiness to consider any role in a potential Yakuza adaptation, encouraging Sega to “get in touch” if an appropriate opportunity arose.

Currently, there are no confirmed plans for a new Yakuza film or series adaptation. The franchise has previously seen a TV series, but its future status remains undefined. Nevertheless, this public exchange of comments highlights that, even without concrete projects on the horizon, a theoretical collaboration—potentially even a cameo in a future game of the series—remains a possibility.
