Solo Leveling Live-Action Filming Potentially Kicking Off in May, Insider Reports

The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the popular ‘Solo Leveling’ webtoon and anime continues to progress. According to insider ggonigone, who has a track record of sharing accurate information regarding Korean projects, filming for the Netflix series is slated to commence in early May 2026. The production phase is anticipated to span approximately three to four months, with the initial season expected to consist of seven episodes.

Should these timelines prove accurate, the entertainment news outlet What’s On Netflix projects a potential release window in late 2027 or early 2028. This forecast takes into account the typical post-production cycles for major streaming platform projects.

Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byeong-seo, recognized for their directorial work on the film ‘Castaway on the Moon,’ are reportedly set to direct the series. South Korean actor Byeon Woo-seok, known for his role in ‘Lovely Runner,’ has been cast as the protagonist, hunter Sung Jin-woo. Furthermore, according to reports from Korean media, actress Han So-hee (‘My Name’) is rumored to be joining the ensemble cast, with speculation pointing to her portraying Cha Hae-in, the sole S-rank female hunter in the original narrative.

As of now, Netflix has not issued any official statements regarding either the production schedule or the confirmed release date for the series.
