The developers of Tempest Rising, the highly anticipated real-time strategy game often hailed as a spiritual successor to Command & Conquer, have rolled out a significant March update titled “A New Quality of Life.” This patch introduces a host of new features and improvements, focusing on enhanced player experience and refined gameplay mechanics, including better controls and more.
Among the key additions, players now have the option to begin a new campaign with all doctrines and equipment pre-unlocked from the very first mission. While this offers immediate access to a wider range of strategic options, it’s important to note that enabling this feature will disable achievement unlocks for that specific campaign profile.
Further enhancements introduced in the update include:
- A “random faction select” option has been added for matchmaking, offering more variety and spontaneity to online multiplayer sessions.
- New hotkeys have been implemented to streamline unit management: Ctrl+Alt+Q allows for selecting all support units across the entire map, while Ctrl+Alt+W selects all support units currently visible on screen.
- The rating calculation system for ranked matches has been updated. The maximum number of points that can be gained or lost in a single match is now capped at +/- 50, with a minimum adjustment of +/- 8 points to ensure more consistent progression.
- Various balance adjustments and mechanic tweaks have been implemented across several units to refine gameplay and foster a more competitive environment.
