Eric Kripke, the visionary creator behind “The Boys,” has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated prequel series, tentatively titled “Vought Corporation Rising,” is slated for release in 2027. While he couldn’t pinpoint an exact premiere date, admitting he “has no idea” of the specific launch, Kripke did confirm that principal photography for the series has successfully concluded.
The production now shifts into a demanding post-production phase. Kripke estimates that the visual effects alone will require approximately eight months of dedicated work, with this crucial stage expected to wrap up by November or December of the current year. Following the completion of visual effects, Amazon will need an additional couple of months for localization efforts to prepare the show for its international debut. Consequently, fans should anticipate the premiere no earlier than spring or summer 2027.
The prequel is set in the 1950s and will journey back in time to explore the formative years of the infamous Vought Corporation. It will also delve into the early lives of pivotal characters such as Soldier Boy, portrayed by Jensen Ackles, and Stormfront, with Aya Cash reprising her role. The series aims to illustrate how the intricate system that eventually gave birth to the corrupt superhero world, so vividly depicted in “The Boys,” originally took shape.
Even with the first season still a considerable time away, discussions about its future are already well underway. Jensen Ackles previously hinted at the possibility of multiple seasons for the show, a notion now echoed by Kripke. He added that showrunner Paul Grellong is already brimming with “really exciting and groundbreaking ideas” for a potential second season, suggesting a long-term vision for the spin-off.
This new chapter in “The Boys” universe is designed to keep fan enthusiasm alive following the conclusion of the main series. The fifth season of “The Boys,” which is scheduled to premiere on April 8, will serve as its grand finale. However, the expansion of the franchise will not stop there, with “Vought Corporation Rising” and other projects, including a potential continuation of “Gen V,” actively being developed to further enrich this expansive superhero universe.
