Ubisoft continues its strategy of bringing major franchises to smartphones, but access to this The Division prequel will not be universal for all players.
Ubisoft has officially released The Division Resurgence, a free-to-play RPG shooter designed for iOS and Android devices. Set within the familiar The Division universe, the project was initially announced in 2022 and has now finally launched after a series of delays.
The game’s narrative unfolds in New York City, preceding the events of the original The Division. Players are invited to explore an expansive open world, undertake various missions, and uncover a fresh storyline centered on a conspiracy that threatens the entire region. The campaign can be enjoyed both as a solo experience and in cooperative multiplayer.
Beyond its PvE offerings, The Division Resurgence features robust PvP activities and the iconic “Dark Zone,” where players engage in high-stakes PvPvE battles with the added risk of losing valuable loot. Developers have committed to ongoing support for the game through regular updates, which will include story expansions, new activities, and seasonal content.
However, players in certain regions will face limitations. Ubisoft has explicitly stated that The Division Resurgence is not available in Russia, Belarus, China, Iran, and several other countries. Furthermore, Russian localization is absent from the current version. Consequently, players in these restricted regions will need to explore alternative methods to install and launch the game.
