The developer behind the roguelite strategy game The King is Watching has provided an update on the title’s impressive sales figures and shared future content plans.
The King is Watching has successfully surpassed the half-million mark in sales on Steam. This significant milestone was announced by the game’s creator, Semyon Guriy, who now regularly shares development news and future strategies on his recently launched channel, “Shelushilnya.”
Guriy revealed that the majority of the game’s audience originates from China, a market where, in his words, “the concept is very relatable.” Players from CIS countries also represent a notable portion of sales, contributing approximately 8-9%, which Guriy deemed “not bad.”
Expressing gratitude to the community, the developer confirmed that a new free map, “Edge of Madness,” is in the works. Its release is strategically planned to occur once the initial “hype dies down” following the launch of Slay the Spire 2. Additionally, a paid expansion titled “Crowns of Yore” is slated for a March release. This DLC will introduce three new rulers, each bringing unique mechanics, distinct abilities, and specialized buildings to the game.
