Resident Evil Requiem is garnering significant praise for its excellent optimization. This technical prowess ensures that PC gamers can enjoy the title even on hardware that isn’t cutting-edge.
A recent video released by the YouTube channel “RandomGaming” showcases Resident Evil Requiem running at a respectable 30-40 frames per second (FPS) at 1080p resolution. Remarkably, this performance was achieved on an older GeForce GTX 960 graphics card, which comes with just 2GB of VRAM. This revelation indicates that the game’s actual minimum system requirements are considerably lower than the 6GB VRAM specified on its Steam page.
While playing on minimal graphics settings at 1080p, the GTX 960 initially delivered approximately 20-30 FPS, a range often considered unplayable by many. However, by enabling AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) version 3 upscaling, the frame rate saw a substantial boost, climbing to an impressive 25-50 FPS. With FSR 3 activated, Capcom’s latest horror offering becomes quite playable even on this more modest hardware configuration.

This level of optimization places Capcom in a much more favorable light, especially following the less-than-stellar technical launches of games like Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds. It is hoped that this high standard of technical execution will become a consistent benchmark for the acclaimed publisher moving forward.
