Turkish McDonald’s Unveils Archie: An Anti-AFK Device for Gamers

McDonalds Archie anti-AFK device for gamepads

This initiative from McDonald’s Turkey has quickly garnered significant attention from the global gaming community.

As part of a new marketing campaign, McDonald’s in Turkey has recently launched a special “gamer” menu, designed with the gaming audience in mind.

The standout feature of this campaign is an innovative anti-AFK (Away From Keyboard) device called Archie. This device addresses a common frustration for gamers: being disconnected or removed from online games due to inactivity when they take a short break, for instance, to eat. Archie enables players to enjoy their meal without interrupting their gameplay, ensuring their character remains active.

Styled to resemble the iconic McDonald’s logo, the Archie device is engineered to easily attach to the analog sticks of a game controller. Once in place, it ensures continuous movement of the in-game character, effectively preventing the player from being flagged as AFK. This clever solution, developed by TBWA\Istanbul, provides a practical answer to a long-standing dilemma for many online gamers.
