Square Enix has unexpectedly launched its critically acclaimed title, Bravely Default, on Xbox and PC, doing so without any prior announcements or a marketing campaign. Until now, Bravely Default was exclusively available on Nintendo Switch 2.
The Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster originally debuted on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. This enhanced jRPG swiftly earned widespread acclaim from both journalists and players, who lauded its classic combat system, distinctive visual aesthetic, and significantly improved graphics. Many fans considered it one of the most exciting new releases on Nintendo’s platform.

It seems the title’s exclusivity period was rather brief. Although Square Enix did not conduct a major advertising campaign, the company did release a trailer to confirm this unexpected multiplatform launch. Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster is now available for purchase on Microsoft Store (for Xbox) and Steam (for PC), though it has not yet arrived on PlayStation consoles.
In related news, Square Enix also announced that the Bravely series has collectively sold over 4 million copies worldwide, an additional treat for fans of the franchise.
