Ayaneo has temporarily suspended pre-orders for its flagship portable gaming device, the NEXT 2. This decision was made after a significant surge in memory component prices caused manufacturing costs to far exceed the product's retail price. Under these circumstances, Ayaneo can no longer continue selling this premium handheld.

Back in February, Ayaneo first opened pre-orders for the NEXT 2, which boasts a 9.06-inch OLED display with a 2400×1504 resolution, runs on Windows 11, and is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (or AI Max 385) processor. It was offered with 32–64 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage.

At the time of the initial launch, the company was aware that memory prices were already quite high. Nevertheless, Ayaneo proceeded with sales to avoid disappointing eager gamers.

However, after the Chinese New Year holidays, when Ayaneo contacted suppliers to confirm current memory procurement prices, the development team discovered that costs had skyrocketed several times over compared to the pre-holiday period.

Under these new circumstances, the device's production cost became significantly higher than its established retail price. Therefore, after careful consideration, Ayaneo made the difficult decision to halt pre-orders for the NEXT 2.

Currently, the manufacturing expenses have markedly surpassed the device's retail value, nearly reaching double the price Ayaneo had originally set. Continuing sales under these conditions is no longer viable.

The company has removed the product from all sales channels, and users can no longer purchase the NEXT 2 on platforms like Indiegogo. However, customers who have already placed a pre-order can rest assured that Ayaneo will proceed with their device's production as planned.

This suspension does not signify the end of the NEXT 2's lifecycle; it is merely a temporary pause in pre-orders. Should memory prices stabilize and return to a more reasonable level in the future, the company will explore the possibility of resuming sales.

Regardless of whether the NEXT 2 becomes available for purchase again, the device's after-sales service will not be affected. Ayaneo plans to maintain a sufficient stock of spare parts to ensure long-term, reliable service and repairs for the NEXT 2.
