Crimson Desert: Graphics and Performance Fall Short of Expectations

Despite initial enthusiastic reviews regarding Crimson Desert's graphics, the game's actual state raises concerns. Many predictions that the game would be an "Unreal Engine 5 killer" appear to have been overstated.

Developed on Pearl Abyss's proprietary engine, the project demonstrates performance levels comparable to some other contemporary games. However, the overall visual quality noticeably falls short of the proclaimed standard.

Particular disappointment was expressed regarding the observed performance of AMD Radeon graphics cards, whose results were lower than anticipated. This is especially noteworthy given AMD's sponsorship of the project.

Furthermore, significant graphical shortcomings were identified. Up-close objects frequently suffer from low-resolution textures, appearing highly unpolished in certain scenes. Issues such as a "noisy" image, weak geometry, and surprisingly low VRAM utilization were also noted, suggesting a potential need for improved textures in the PC version of the game.
