Crimson Desert Receives First Gamepad Control Mods
Frustrated by Crimson Desert's default gamepad controls, some players have taken matters into their own hands, releasing community-made modifications to address common complaints.
Many players expressed dissatisfaction with various aspects of the game's control scheme. A significant point of contention was the need to constantly hold down a button for basic running on a gamepad.
Modder Odashikonbu introduced "Smooth movement for Crimson Desert" to resolve this. This plugin detects gamepad input and automatically triggers a "left SHIFT key" signal when the joystick is tilted beyond two-thirds of its range. This eliminates the need to hold a button for standard movement; your character, Cliff, will start running as soon as you sufficiently tilt the stick. A full sprint still requires a double-tap.
Another modder, kindiboy, released the "Controller Button Remapper." This modification offers extensive customization for Crimson Desert's controls, allowing players to remap any gamepad button using a simple INI file. Crucially, on-screen button prompts automatically update to reflect these new settings, requiring no manual image editing.
