Crimson Desert Replaces AI-Generated Art with Human-Drawn Assets After Player Feedback
Shortly after its release, players of Crimson Desert spotted unusual in-game paintings that appeared to be generated by artificial intelligence. Developers promptly addressed this feedback and initiated the process of replacing these assets.
Pearl Abyss, the studio behind Crimson Desert, acknowledged the use of AI technologies and pledged to remove the AI-generated assets from the game. The developers clarified that such content was not intended to be part of the final game build.
Following a recent patch, players have confirmed that the developers have indeed replaced several elements. The previously AI-created paintings are now being replaced with art drawn by human artists, leading to a noticeable improvement in visual consistency.
The patch notes for Crimson Desert version 1.01.00 describe these changes as:
"As part of ongoing improvements, some 2D visual assets have been replaced with ones more suitable for the game's art style."
