Dave Oshry, the outspoken head of New Blood Interactive, publisher of acclaimed titles like Dusk, has launched a vehement critique against NVIDIA and called for a complete boycott of the company. His strong remarks follow the recent announcement of DLSS 5.0.
"As both game developers and players, we need to put a stop to this, just as we previously did with NFTs and crypto-based games."
Oshry asserts that the widespread implementation of DLSS 5.0 could signal the "kiss of death" for the video game development industry. He urged his peers and the gaming community to "vote with their wallets" by actively boycotting NVIDIA's initiatives related to the new technology.
"We need to protest more vigorously. Beyond vocal criticism, the only effective action we can take is to vote with our wallets. Cripple their sales, plummet their stock value. As developers, cease all collaboration. Only then might they reconsider and provide us with what we genuinely desire."
Online reception for DLSS 5.0 following its demonstration has been overwhelmingly negative. Notably, even Digital Foundry reportedly retracted its initial positive coverage just two days post-publication. Many are labeling NVIDIA's presentation a significant PR blunder, particularly highlighting the controversial decision to showcase the technology with a chosen Resident Evil title. This game is already celebrated for its stunning visuals and is widely considered not to require any artificial "enhancements."
