Four Nacon Subsidiaries File for Insolvency
Four prominent Nacon subsidiaries – Spiders, Kylotonn, Cyanide, and Nacon Tech – have initiated insolvency proceedings in France. These studios, based in Paris, have commenced court-supervised reorganization at the Lille Métropole Commercial Court.
These acclaimed developers are behind several well-known game franchises: Spiders is recognized for its work on the Greedfall series, Kylotonn is known for overseeing the World Rally Championship games, and Cyanide has developed titles within the Styx and Blood Bowl universes.
This move by the studios follows their parent company, Nacon, which itself entered court-supervised reorganization earlier this month to address its considerable debt and undergo restructuring. The French publisher's financial difficulties arose after its majority shareholder, Bigben Interactive, failed to repay a substantial €43 million loan.
Under French law, these "judicial reorganization" proceedings are collective processes designed to help financially distressed companies. During an observation period, which can extend up to 18 months, liabilities incurred before the judgment are temporarily frozen. This critical period allows the debtor to propose a comprehensive continuation plan, aiming to restructure its debt and ensure the long-term recovery of its business operations.
Nacon currently oversees a vast network, encompassing 25 subsidiaries, 16 of which are dedicated development studios.
