The highly anticipated reboot of the Harry Potter series has captured immense public attention.

The debut trailer for the upcoming "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" series has set an unprecedented record for HBO and HBO Max. Within its first 48 hours, the trailer amassed over 277 million views, more than doubling the previous highest viewership.

While the specific project that previously held the record was not disclosed, it is highly probable that it was a trailer for "House of the Dragon" or "Game of Thrones," both known for their extensive reach and massive viewership figures.

Released on March 26, the trailer provided fans with their first comprehensive look at the return to Hogwarts. It showcased Dominic MacLaughlin in the role of Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout portraying Ron Weasley.

The preview also featured the adult cast, including John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.

However, this high level of interest has not translated into universal approval. Discussions surrounding the trailer online have been varied: while a segment of the audience warmly welcomed the franchise's return, others voiced criticism regarding the visual aesthetics, casting choices, and the very concept of a reboot.

Nevertheless, HBO is committed to developing the series over several years, intending to adapt each novel into a dedicated season. The premiere of the first season is currently scheduled for December 2026.
