Hunt: Showdown 1896 Unveils Hardcore "Devil's Due" Event with Escape from Tarkov-Inspired Mechanics
Crytek has launched a new event for Hunt: Showdown, dubbed "Devil's Due," which introduces hardcore survival elements reminiscent of Escape from Tarkov. Players will encounter a series of significant gameplay innovations.
Alongside the event, new additions include the hunter "The Madness of Montresor" and a formidable new monster – the Firebug. This fire-breathing creature inhabits the swamps and gulches, often found among groups of the possessed. The Firebug can unleash flames from a distance, demanding particular caution and tactical approaches from hunters to eliminate it.
The main gameplay changes brought by "Devil's Due" focus on map revelation mechanics:
- Match Start: Supply and extraction points remain hidden on the map.
- Ways to uncover them:
- Locate and use a special reconnaissance map.
- Discover them manually by approaching, marking them from a distance, or using a spyglass.
- For extraction points specifically: collect a bounty, banish a boss, or use a "Chariot" Tarot card.
New structures called "Recon Towers" have also been added to the game. Two such towers appear in each mission and are the only points initially marked on the map. Visiting these towers is crucial, as they can yield a reconnaissance map, weapons, and new Tarot cards that help reveal the rest of the game area.
