"I Was Shocked": Experts Slam Crimson Desert's 60 FPS Mode on PS5
Experts from Digital Foundry have shared their conclusions on the PlayStation 5 version of Crimson Desert, and their findings are quite disheartening. The performance mode, targeting 60 frames per second, was explicitly labeled "terrible."
The core criticism from the experts extends beyond mere frame rate drops; their primary complaint focuses on the catastrophic image blur.
"Oh my God, how blurry this is. There is no FSR here. It looks like basic TAA at 1080p, and it looks awful. I was truly shocked. Looking at it on my OLED TV, I thought it was 720p. It reminded me of very blurry games from the Nintendo Switch 1. The quality difference between PS5 and PS5 Pro is enormous – the biggest I've seen so far. The Pro delivers significantly better performance and incomparably better image quality."
The quality gap between the base PS5 and the PS5 Pro is indeed colossal; according to the experts, the Pro version offers substantially superior performance and immeasurably better visual fidelity.
Similar issues with 1080p rendering were previously observed in the PC version of the game, raising questions about whether the game engine truly outputs the promised resolution given the poor visual quality. Digital Foundry's recommendation is clear: on a standard PS5, players should stick to 30 or 40 FPS. The 60 FPS mode is only advisable for the PS5 Pro.
