Ian McKellen's Stunt Enthusiasm Impresses James Marsden on 'Avengers: Doctor Doom' Set
Legendary actors from the 'X-Men' franchise are set to reprise their iconic roles in Marvel's upcoming massive crossover event.
James Marsden, who first portrayed Scott Summers (Cyclops) in the 2000 'X-Men' film, admitted to having reservations about returning to the role for the forthcoming blockbuster 'Avengers: Doctor Doom' at the age of 52.
In an interview with the New York Post, Marsden expressed uncertainty about Marvel needing a 'fifty-something Cyclops' and worried about his physical capacity and whether he could convincingly embody the character years later.
However, all his concerns vanished on set, largely thanks to Ian McKellen. Marsden was deeply impressed by the 86-year-old McKellen, who showed remarkable eagerness to perform his own demanding stunts, reportedly sometimes even waving away stunt doubles with a spirited "Let me try it myself!"
'Avengers: Doctor Doom' is slated for release on December 18, 2026. The film is expected to unite over thirty beloved characters from both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Fox-era 'X-Men' franchise.
