Kirsten Dunst Joins "Minecraft" Film Sequel as Alex
Kirsten Dunst has joined the cast of the "Minecraft" film sequel, where she will portray Alex, one of the two central characters from the popular game universe, alongside Steve. For Dunst, known for her roles in independent films, this marks a return to large-scale productions. The actress previously noted that her children loved the first installment, and she is eager to join a project that promises financial success.
Jack Black is expected to reprise his role as Steve, and Jason Momoa will return as Garrett "The Scavenger." The participation of Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen, and Jennifer Coolidge has not yet been confirmed. Jared Hess will once again direct the project, with Chris Galletta penning the script.
According to producer Roy Lee, filming for the sequel is set to commence in April 2026 in New Zealand, and audiences can anticipate the appearance of the Ender Dragon.
The film's premiere is scheduled for July 23, 2027.
