Marvel Studios Postpones 'Black Panther 3' Release by Several Months
Marvel Studios has adjusted its future project schedule, moving the premiere of 'Black Panther 3' back by several months. Originally slated for February 2028, the film is now, according to sources, expected in the summer of the same year, tentatively July 28. Consequently, the seventh phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will now be inaugurated by a different project.
Previously, 'Black Panther 3' was considered the opening film of the MCU's seventh phase, intended to arrive just three months after the epic 'Avengers: Secret Wars'. However, current adjustments indicate a reassessment of these initial plans.
Accordingly, the launch of MCU Phase Seven is now officially set for May 5, 2028, with the debut of another, as yet undisclosed, project. Furthermore, following the release of 'Black Panther 3', another film is scheduled for December 15, 2028.
Reports suggest that the reason for this schedule change is not a shift in Marvel's overall strategy, but rather due to the busy schedule of director Ryan Coogler. He is currently involved in a reboot of 'The X-Files' for the Hulu platform, with filming planned for May and June 2026. An additional factor influencing the production timeline of 'Black Panther 3' is the involvement of some key cast members in 'Avengers: Secret Wars'.
It is anticipated that 'Avengers: Secret Wars' will introduce a new character to take on the mantle of Black Panther. Rumors suggest this role might be filled by T'Challa's grown-up son. Damson Idris has been mentioned among potential candidates for this part, though no official announcements have been made. Additionally, Denzel Washington's possible entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is being discussed, which would mark his MCU debut.
