The internet community rallied together to create a fully verified backup. Just a month ago, the library's administrators announced its impending closure, citing rapidly increasing server expenses and the rising cost of data storage and RAM, driven by the intense demand for AI algorithms.
In response, retro gaming enthusiasts quickly organized a rescue effort. The SaveMyrient team has confirmed the successful completion of their initiative: all original files from the server have been downloaded, thoroughly verified, and securely saved onto new drives.
Currently, users are actively creating torrent files for temporary distribution, but the ultimate goal is to restore a fully functional platform for free access to classic titles.
Although the original Myrient platform is set to close its doors at the end of the month, the coordinated efforts of dedicated fans have saved tens of thousands of unique games, ensuring the preservation of a vital part of video game history.
